OBJECTIVE To explore the side effects of pingyangmycin used in treatment of vascular hemangioma.METHODS One hundred and sixty nine cases of vascular hemangioma(83 males and 86 females) were treated with pingyangmycin, including 155 cases of hemangioma and 14 cases of lymphangioma,The age ranged from 0.5 to 75 years old.RESULTS The healing rate of pingyangmycin treatment was 85.2%(144/169),improved rate was 9.47%(16/169).The side effects of pingyangmycin could be defined as the long-term and short-term symptoms.The long-term side effects:3 cases of muscular atrophy,5 cases of tissue and cutaneous necrosis.The short-term side effect:109 cases of local swelling,12 cases of fever,13 cases of mucosal ulcer in oral cavity,1 case of allergy,3 cases of collapse. CONCLUSION Excessive pingyangmycin dosage may cause swelling,ulcer,corruption,even necrosis. Chronic muscular atrophy may occur long term after treatment.Attention must be paid to the location, dosage and speed of the pingyangmycin injection to prevent side effects.
