Abstract

The protein components from single hair(1～5 cm in length)have been analysedby using mini SDS-gradient polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis(5.0～17.0%).Thekeratins from hairs of human,pan,comopithecus,hylobates,oryctolagus and caviawere compared.Keratin in human hair differed from the animal hairs in the lowmolecular weight components.The low-sulphur protein and high-sulphur proteinfrom hairs were determined by means of N-(3-pyrene)maleimide labelled hair proteins.The molecular weight of the former was within the range of 45,000～52,000 daltonwhile that of the latter within the range of
