Abstract
Subthreshold depression is common in the elderly. It is also one of the neuropsychiatric symptoms that frequently affect patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). MCI patients with subthreshold depression may suffer from more severe cognitive impairment and an increased risk of dementia. In recent years, more attention has been paid to the relationship between subthreshold depression and cognitive impairment. This article reviews the research progress on the epidemiology and neuroimaging of subthreshold depression in the elderly with MCI.
