Tardive dyskinesia (TD) is a common adverse reaction during the treatment of antipsychotic drugs and there is no satisfactory treatment for it. Deutetrabenazine has been approved by FDA in 2017 to treat TD. This drug has just been launched in China and there are few reports on its clinical application in China. This article reports a 19-year-old female diagnosed with "schizophrenia". She has taken antipsychotics for a long time. Recently, she had symptoms such as the opening mouth and sticking tongue out, head and neck receding, difficulty chewing, slurred speech, drooling, etc. and was diagnosed with "TD". She was adjusted for drugs and was prescribed vitamin E and clonazepam. The therapeutic effect of this symptomatic treatment was poor. After being treated with Deutetrabenazine, her symptoms gradually alleviated and the therapeutic effect was definite. This case report will provide references and experience for clinical work.
