Abstract:
Medical microecology refers to a life science that studies the relationship between the human commensal microbiota and its host. Streptococcus pneumoniae not only widely colonizes the nasopharynx of healthy individuals, but also is a common conditioned pathogen of pneumonia, bacteremia, meningitis, nasosinusitis and otitis media. There is a lack of overall knowledge of Streptococcus pneumoniae as the pathogen of pneumococcal diseases in the past. However, to investigate the colonization, related diseases as well as disease prevention and treatment of Streptococcus pneumoniae from the perspective of medical microecology enables clinicians to acquire a more comprehensive and in-depth understanding of pneumococcal diseases.
