Abstract:
Diabetic lower extremity neuropathy is common complication of diabetic mellitus. Ultrasonography is gradually applied in the diagnosis and treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy, the changes of the course, internal structure and internal blood flow of nerves can be detected with high resolution ultrasonography, the stiffness of nerves may be displayed with ultrasound elastography, while contrast-enhanced ultrasound can be used as a quantitative evaluation method of nerve blood flow perfusion. The advances of utilization of ultrasonography in diabetic lower extremity neuropathies were reviewed in this article.
