Abstract:
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a non-specific, chronic intestinal inflammatory disease, and the pathogenesis of IBD is not completely clear. The dominant hypothesis suggests that the intestinal mucosal injury resulted from sustained immune response towards altered intestinal microbiota in a genetically susceptible host might be the mechanism. Microbiota plays an important role in maintaining the normal intestinal function. This article reviewed the role of intestinal microbiota and the treatment with intestinal microbiota in IBD.
