Abstract:
Objective: To study the chemical constituents in the stems-leaves of Lagerstroemia indica. Methods: The compounds were isolated and purified by silica gel, Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography, and HPLC. The structures of the compound were identified on the basis of chemical and spectral methods. Results: Five compounds were isolated from the ethanol extract of the stems-leaves of L. indica and identified as 1,2-(3-hydroxy-4-methoxyphenyl)-3-oxopropyl acetate (1), morusinol (2), neocyclomorusin (3), (+)-episyring-4-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (4), and yunnanensin A (5). Conclusion: Compound 1 is a new compound named lagerstroemiate A, and compounds 2-5 are isolated from this plant for the first time.
