Abstract:
Polyether ether ketone exhibits considerable advantages,such as excellent mechanical properties,good bio-compatibility,corrosion resistance,fatigue resistance,high temperature resistance and X-ray transmission.In recent years,substantial researches have been reported to explore the applications of polyether ether ketone and its composites in orthopedic implants development,which is expected to replace titanium alloy as the main material.However,the application of polyether ether ketone in plate-screw system and intramedullary nail used in fracture fixation is still scarce,and yet not well-rounded.This article reviews and summarizes recent research progress of polyether ether ketone and its composites used in orthopaedic trauma implants.
