- Abstract: Convincing evidence suggests that females and males are different in regard to susceptibility to both infectious and non-infectious diseases. Sex and gender influences the severity and outcome of several infectious diseases, including leptospirosis, tuberculosis, listeriosis, Q fever, avian influenza and SARS.
