Abstract:
In this paper EEGs spectral analysis and computer recognition method have been applied to 20 children from the Zashue County of Shaanxi Provence, who are suffering from mental retardation of endemic etiology unknown. The results of the experiment show that the energy ratio of DELTA and THETA bands increases and that of ALPHA band dicreases. The total energy of all bands becomes smaller than the contro group. The patterns of EEG suggest that some particular pathological damage should occur in these children. The obvious advantages of using computer analysis may be the indexes to diagnosis this kind of disease.
