Abstract:
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: This study evaluated the conservative resection and figure of 8 anchoring suture technique for correcting caudal septal deformities. MATERIALS AND METHOD: All patients who underwent septoplasty with the above technique were mailed a questionnaire to evaluate their perception of the procedure's results. RESULTS: A risk of postoperative aesthetic complication rate was rare (4.3%). They reported minimal change of supratip area. Most of the patients (98%) were relieved from nasal obstruction after the procedure. All patients were relieved from postoperative pain within 4 weeks. Only one patient complained of dull sense on the nasal tip postoperatively. CONCLUSION: Correction of caudal septal deviation with conservative resection and figure of 8 anchoring suture seems to be an effective and safe method of correcting the functional problems associated with caudal septal deformities.
