Abstract:
The opiate is one of the most commonly used drugs for analgesia in neonates, and its distribution volume is larger and elimination half life is longer in neonates compared with older infants and adults. It has been shown to correlate with gestational age, birth weight,or postnatal age.The opioids are used more commonly in mechanically ventilation.perioperatively and in babies who have severe and continuous pain. The opiate alleviates pain, reduces stress responses, but has to be combined with continuous physiological monitoring, evaluation of side effects, and consideration of long-term clinical outcomes.
