Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To provide experimental data in guidance of selecting prime low temperature sterilization techniques for heat-moisture sensitive medical devices reprocessing through the comparison of two general low temperature sterilization techniques.METHODS The comparison of sterilization cost,sterilization parameters,etc was performed between ethylene oxide sterilizer and hydrogen peroxide gas plasma sterilizer.RESULTS Ethylene oxide represented itself as a traditional low temperature solution for heat-moisture medical devices reprocessing with the obvious merits,including comprehensive and reliable monitoring systems,all of which made it ideal for items terminal sterilization and uses in CSSD.And hydrogen peroxide posed as an inchoate technique,which met the needs of surgical emergencies and rapid connection of operations;thus it was ideal for uses in operating room.CONCLUSIONS The two low temperature techniques all show their own merits and drawbacks.
