Abstract:
Polycystic ovary syndrome is characterized by reproductive endocrinology and metabolic abnormalities.This paper reviewed recent advance in science frontier about PCOS including: ① PCOS manifests as primary ovary disorder;②The core features in PCOS are associated with increased size and functionalities of follicles,③ Insulin resistance constitutes the key pathophysiology of PCOS;④ Insulin sensitizing agents are effective in treating the reproductive and metabolic disorders.Thus,it is hypotheses that PCOS may be a primary disorder of follicles and perhaps a follicular disorder of insulin resistance.Such an idea offers new direction for future research for PCOS.
