Abstract:
By means of photography and measuring with a sliding scale 1054 foramina in the transverse processin 545 cases of cervical vertebrae were studied. including the measurement of sagittal and trausvetse dimeter. Some typical morphological characteristics of the cervical spine were described in detail, eg. The sulcusof tbe A. vettebralis over the posterior arch of the atlas changed into a hole instead. In some instances, the foramina were abscent or smaller than usual in one side or both sides in the transverse process.Occasionally, the foramina were divided into two parts. forming a double holes in the transverse process. In others, the superior articular process became hypertrophied. growing forward and coveriug the foraminaof the transverse process. Based upon the statistical analysis of the morphological variations of the foramina A. vertebralis.the relationship between the morphology of the foramen of the cervical spine and the causing factors ofcervical spondylosis was disctissed.
