Abstract:
Objective To observe the effects of safflow yellow (SY) on cerebral ischemia and reperfusion injure in mice. Method By using decapitating, intraveneous injection of saturated MgCl2, the effects of SY on survival time in mice were studied. With the model of cerebral ischemia for 20 min and reperfusion for 10 min, the superoxide dimutases (SOD) active and Malondialdehyde (MDA) content in brain tissue were tested. Result Introvenous injection of SY before ischemia can prolonged the survival time significantly. Meanwhile, SY was found to increase the activity of SOD and reduce the content of MDA after cerebral ischemia and reperfusion in mice. Conclusion SY has a protective effects on brain ischemia.
