Abstract:
An outbreak of a HFRS epidemic at a temporary barrack of a certain Unit in Helong County, Jilin Province, occurred in May-June 1982. 102 rodents were captured on the spot, among them 57 were A. speciosus peninsulae, 16 were C. rufocanus irkutensis, and the rest belonged to other species. Twenty-nine animals were examined for antigen associated with HFRS by IFT.Among them 12 A. speciosus peninsulae were found to have positive result (21.1%), and 2 C. rufocanus irkutensis were positive(12.5%). Thus these two rodents seemed to be verified as mainreservoir of the virus in this epidemic. It was the first time that A. speciosus peninsulae and C. rufocanus irkutensis were held responsible for carrying HFRS virus antigen in China, and the result might be useful for future epide-miological investigation, provention and treatment of the disease.
