Clinical analysis of 93 cases of pheochromocytoma

- Abstract: The clinical features, laboratorydata, imagingfindings and pathologic diagnosis were reviewedin 93 patients with pheochromocytoma confirmed by pathology in Ruijin Hospital from1998 to 2003. Among thosepatients, 77.4% patients showed one of the triad symptoms (headache, palmus, colliquative sweeting), 88.2%patients presented unstable or uncontrolable hypertension and 18.3% patients without clinical manifestation whichwas considered as asymptomatic pheochranocytoma. The positive rate of ultrasonic examination, CT or MRI and131I-MIBG were 97.8%, 97.1% and 83.3% respectively. The diagnosis of pheochromocytoma should not dependon only one of the imaging examinations or biochemical tests, and it must be confirmed by pathology after surgeryoperation.
