Abstract:
Ten IAb-positive and 11 IAb-ncgative patients were monitored for 71/2 hours after subcutaneous injection of regular insulin (14U) to investigate the effects of insulia antibody (IAb) on insulin action and glucose utilization. Their free and total insulin and IAb concentration were measured. The relations between concentration, affinity ccnstant (K), and maximal insulin-binding capacity (MBC) of IAb and the time required for decreasing 5.55 mmol / L glucose were studied in IAb-positive patients. We concluded that (1) IAb concentration is associated with the delaying of the onset of insulin action and the time required for decreasing 5.55 mmol / L glucose; (2) IAb concentration and MBC are more important to the insulinaction and glucose utilization than the affinity of IAb.
