PREPRO-ANF 56-92-LIKE IMMUNOREACTIVE MATERIAL IN RAT ATRIUM: A NOVEL HORMONE CANDIDATE

Abstract:
Prepro atrial natriuretic factor 56-92 (prepro ANF56-92) -like immunoreactive material was found in rat atrium (535?55 fmol/mg protein) and plasma (40 find/ml) by radioimmunoassay. PAP-immunohistochemical study demonstrated that specific staining of granules for prepro ANF 56-92 were located around the nucleus of atrial cardiocytes. Ge) flltration and reverse-phase HPLC analyses revealed that this prepro ANF 56-92-like immunoreactive material in rat atrium with a molecular weight about 6,000 daltons differed either from prepro ANF 56-92 or prepro ANF 26-92. Bioassay study of rabbit aortic strip in vitro showed that prepro ANF 56-92 can inhibit norepinephrine-induced aortic contraction. These results suggested that this preproANF56-92 -like immunoreactive materia may be a novel hormone candidate released by rat atrium.
