Abstract:
In this article, the indications of operative technique and clinical results of reconstruction of thumb by big toe nail-skin flap with neurovaseular anastomosis are discussed. The advantages of this operation ars as follows. 1 )The contour of the reconstructed thumb is better than that reported by others. 2)The functions of sensation and movement are satisfactory. 3) There is less influence on the blood supply area of the foot. 4)The indications are wider. The shortcomings are the lack of interphalangeal and metecarpophalangeal joints and the wound of the big toe heals slowly. Thus, this procedure needs further improvement.
