Evaluation on the common disease in the intensive care unit of National hospital of pediatrics from 2001 to 2002

Abstract:
The research was carried out on 934 pediatric patients treated at the intensive care unit (ICU) of National hospital of Pediatrics from Jan 2001 to Dec 2002. The rate of emergency patients treated in ICU was 19.3%. The most frequent age group was 1-2 months (45.7%), followed by age group of 12 months-5 years (24.5%), and newborn baby (12.4%. The common diseases arranged in common order: respiratory diseases 30.5%, neurological diseases (23.3%), surgical diseases (14.7%), and circulation diseases (13.1%). Among which, the most common diseases were pneumonia, encephalitis-acute encephalic syndrome congenital heart disease, shock, peritonitis, septicemia, dehydrated diarrheas, acute renal failure, severe trauma and drug poisoning
