Comparative study of locking compression plate and simple plate and screw for limb fractures

Abstract: Objective To compare the internal fixation effect of locking compression plate and simple plate and screw for limb fractures.Methods Retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 52 patients from January 2008 to December 2010,and 28 patients were treated with locking compression plate(observation group),24 patients were treated with simple plate and screw (control group).The effect and complications were obseved.Results The excellent rate in observation group was significantly higher than that in control group [89.3％ (25/28) vs.66.7％ (16/24),P ＜0.05].The total rate of postoperative complication in observation group was significantly lower than that in control group [14.3％ (4/28) vs.58.3％ (14/24),P ＜0.05].Conclusions Locking compression plate in the treatment of limb fractures shows a clear advantage,especially in improving the quality and reducing the rate of complication.It is worthy of further promotion.
