Abstract:
Objective To analyze the examination results of cytokines in serum and stool of children with rotavirus enteritis. Methods Fifty-two children with rotavirus enteritis were selected as observation group, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used for testing tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin 8 (IL-8) in serum and stool. At the same time 50 cases of healthy infants were selected as control group, and a comparative study was made. Results The serum and stool TNF- α and IL-8 levels in observation group at acute phase [ ( 129 ± 31 ),( 159 ± 24) μ g/L and ( 184 ± 35),(269 ± 25) μg/L] were significantly higher than those in control group [(28 ±6),(104 ± 13) μg/L and (52 ±6),(133 ± 11) μg/L](P < 0.05).The serum and stool TNF- α and IL-8 levels decreased rapidly at the convalescent stage [ (30 ± 7 ),( 108 ± 10) μ g/L and (89 ± 8),( 187 ± 14) μ g/L ],and compared with those at acute phase, the differences showed statistically significant (P< 0.05 ),but the stool TNF- α and IL-8 levels were still significantly higher than those in control group (P < 0.05).Conclusion The cytokines in serum and stool are helpful in the clinical diagnosis of children with rotavirus enteritis, and can determine the progression of the disease as one of the indicators to guide clinical work.
