Results of a preliminary study on effect of hepamarin (a preparation of the plant phyllanthus amarus) on hepatitis

Abstract:
HEPAMARIN were made from leaves of Phyllathus amarus. Leaves were washed with chloramin - B water. A technique of interminant sterilisation was used by the washed leaves of plant were maintained at 45oC for 30 min daily for 3 successive days in ultra-red. The leaves powdered in an electric blender, the powder was dispensed under sterilisation conditions in 200mg doses into gelatin capsules. Carriers of HIV included symptom - free carriers and with symptoms, who were outpatients with the diagnosis of chronic liver diseases at the Hå ChÝ Minh city Pasteus Institute, Trng Vng Hospital, No &A Hospital in the Hå ChÝ Minh City. The serum was tested for HBsAg by enzymes - linked immunosobent assay (ELISA). Bilirubin, serum alanine and aspartate aminotransferases and alkaline phosphatase were measured. Results in Pasteus Institute: The carriers were given a capsule three times a day for 30 days. Overall, 3(7%) of the 42 subjects had lost HBsAg: 8 cases (19%) decreased HBsAg. In Trng Vng hospital: the time for clinical symptom free are 13.7 days in treated subjects compared with 15.3 days in non-treated. The patients were given a capsule four times a day.
