Abstract:
Results of retrospective study on 80 deaths of DF/DHF in 2001 indicate that deaths occur mostly in southern part, predominantly in children under 15 years-old. Almost all of deaths occur within 48 hours of hospitalization; number of deaths after 3 days hospitalized is still high. Most of deaths appear 5-6 days from date of onset. Death in provincial hospital accounts for 41.3%. Common symptoms in deaths of DF/DHF are petechia, hematemissis, epistaxis, purpura, and gingival bleeding.
