Abstract:
PURPOSE: The respiratory diseases are most common disease entity in children. This study was performed to know the monthly distribution of respiratory diseases by age and sex in primary, secondary and tertiary level medical care centers. METHODS: Retrospective data of patients from September in 1998 through August in 1999 were analysed. RESULTS: The distribution of respiratory diseases in primary level medical care centers are 65% of the total. The distribution of respiratory diseases in secondary and tertiary level medical care centers are 67% and 33.8%, respectively, of the total out patients and 31% and 22%, respectively, of the total in patients. The monthly distribution of bronchiolitis are most prevalent in November, December and January. There was no seasonal variation in patients with asthma. CONCLUSION: The proportion of the respiratory diseases in children are very high. We have to concern that there is a close relationship between the childhood asthma and respiratory diseases.
