Abstract:
Sepsis exhibits substantial biological heterogeneity. Transcriptome-based subtyping systems, such as sepsis response signature (SRS) subtypes, molecular diagnosis and risk stratification of sepsis (MARS), inflammation/adaptive/coagulation subtyping, and consensus transcriptomic subtypes, have provided a crucial basis for elucidating the molecular mechanisms of sepsis and guiding precision treatment. Using a literature review approach, this study systematically summarizes the immune subtyping systems of sepsis and their molecular basis, and explores the potential correspondence between traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndromes and immune subtypes. It is found that the heat-toxin syndrome tends to correspond to the hyperinflammatory subtype, the stasis-toxin syndrome to the coagulopathy subtype, and the deficiency syndrome to the immunosuppressive subtype. These findings may provide new insights for precision therapy of sepsis through integrated Chinese and western medicine.
