Abstract:
ObjectiveTo investigate the effect of elastic band three-dimensional correction therapy based on surface electromyography (sEMG) on adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS). MethodsFrom March, 2020 to November, 2024, 42 children with AIS in Beijing Bo'ai Hospital were randomly divided into control group (n = 21) and experimental group (n = 21). The control group received Schroth-specific exercise therapy, while the experimental group was analyzed by collecting sEMG signals to determine the three-dimensional elastic band correction training plan, for three months. Before and after treatment, the Cobb angle and the International Scoliosis Research Society Patient Questionnaire 22 (SRS-22) were used for assessment. ResultsOne case dropped out in the control group. Through the analysis of the sEMG results, the final training plan of the experimental group was determined as follows: lateral resistance on the concave side of the main curve, resistance to forward lunges on the concave side and forward flexion and internal rotation of the convex side shoulder, and convex-side knee flexion supporting gluteal bridge. After treatment, the Cobb angle decreased in the experimental group (t = 3.306, P = 0.002), and was less in the experimental group than in the control group (t = -3.102, P = 0.004). The score of mental health of SRS-22 increased in the experimental group (t = -2.161, P = 0.037), and was higher in the experimental group than in the control group (t = 2.873, P = 0.007). The satisfaction was higher in the experimental group than in the control group (t = -4.194, P < 0.001). ConclusionsEMG can provide precise references for the formulation of exercise plans for three-dimensional correction of AIS with elastic bands, which can achieve good correction effects and treatment satisfaction.
