Abstract:
The red doctor culture emerged during the New Democratic Revolution period and represents a scientific construction of medical culture under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, adhering to the “two integrations”. Among them, the Marxist thought on cultural construction lays the “soul” foundation for its cultural nature, the fine traditional Chinese medicine culture strengthens the “root” foundation of its development path, and the public health campaigns consolidate the practical basis of its cultural value. The intrinsic characteristics of red doctor culture consist of four dimensions and four aspects. These include the distinct political character in the direction dimension, the lofty people-oriented stance in the value dimension, the pursuit of outstanding professional qualities in the practical dimension, and the noble spiritual quality and appearance in the spiritual dimension. These four approaches are dialectically unified, jointly constructing the characteristic paradigm of red medical culture. Medical workers inheriting the red medical culture should take “transmission” as the basis, “upholding” the fundamental principles, core characteristics, and practical wisdom of the red doctor spirit. They should also hold “innovation” as the ultimate goal, endowing the red doctor spirit with contemporary connotations, expressive forms, and practical patterns, thereby activating its vitality and enhancing its influence and appeal. These two aspects are dialectically unified, aiming to enable the red doctor spirit, which was born in the war, to achieve creative transformation and innovative development in the new era’s health and medical care cause.
