Abstract:
Severe pneumonia (SP) is a common respiratory critical illness that is difficult to treat and carries a poor prognosis. Elderly patients with severe pneumonia exhibit reduced organ function, rapid disease progression, and increased clinical treatment challenges, all of which significantly impact the prognosis. Therefore, it is particularly crucial to find rapid and effective biological indicators to grade the severity of prognosis status of elderly severe pneumonia and guide the individualized diagnosis and treatment of patients. Previous studies have largely suggested that abnormally elevated serum inflammatory factors are involved in the occurrence and progression of severe pneumonia. Therefore, this study reviews the research on the correlation between inflammatory factors and poor prognosis of elderly severe pneumonia.
