Abstract:
Yin-yang imbalance is the core pathogenesis of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder （ADHD）， yet a bridging point between this pathogenesis and clinical practice is lacking. Based on a novel interpretation of the yin-yang imbalance pathogenesis， characterized by brain-abdomen blockage and uncontrollable scattered spirit， this concept is elucidated from the perspectives of mutual interaction between yin and yang in the brain and abdomen， as well as the circulation and distribution of qi and blood in these regions. Within the yin-yang framework， the traditional pathogenesis of yin-yang imbalance is supplemented by the pathological localization of "brain-abdomen pathway" and "uncontrollable scattered spirit"， and is concretized into a mutual obstruction characterized by failure of clear yang to ascend in the brain and failure of turbid yin to descend in the abdomen. This provides a "yin and yang-zang fu （脏腑）organs-qi mechanism" model for ADHD pathogenesis that can guide clinical practice and research verification， thus facilitating clinical syndrome differentiation.
