Objectives: To compare the agreement of values (Reliability) of the level of PSA using a semi-quantitative, two site sandwich immunoassay device (using Immunochromatography-Cancheck Device) with the results from a Third Generation PSA assay using method of chemiluminescence (Immulite 1000) and compare the two tests in terms of costs and time spent for the consultation. Materials and Methods: This is a cross sectional study involving 100 volunteer patients who agreed that their PSA level be^determined through the Immulite PSA machine and Cancheck PSA device. Results: Using the Cohen's kappa coefficient as test for reliability between the two tests. Results showed 91.53 percent agreement which is more than satisfactory. Total cost and number of consultations are decreased in Cancheck as compared to Immulite 1000. Conclusion: Cancheck PSA device is a quick and less costly alternative tool in PSA determination which has almost the same reliability as with the third generation PSA machine. The study recommends the use of the device in a physician's practice.
