Abstract:
Background: The number of elderly patients undergoing hemodialysis is rising . There are several studies already that show the high prevalence of cognitive impairment in the elderly hemodialysis population and that (CKD) itself can be an independent risk factor for cognitive impairement .Objective: To describe Mini Mental Status Examination profile of elderly Filipino hemodialysis patients , age 60 years old and above .Methods: Thirty-one hemodialysis patients, aged 60 years old and above were recruited from 4 different questionnaire - based interview and were evaluated using the Mini Mental Status Examination (MMSE). All data were processed and summarized using descriptive statistics . Pearson correlation was computed .Results: Out of the study cohort , 32.2% had MMSE scores
