Abstract:
Heparan sulfate(HS) is an important class of glycosaminoglycans(GAGs) that widely exist on the surface of mammalian cells and in the extracellular matrix in the form of heparan sulfate proteoglycans(HSPGs).HS can interact with the surface proteins of various viruses specifically through sulfation modification and chain length change, participating in the processes of viral adsorption, invasion, and dissemination. Therefore, HS has become an important target in virus infection research. In this paper, the biosynthesis process of HS and its role in multiple virus infection processes are summarized, aiming to provide a reference for the development of new antiviral drugs.
