Abstract:
Based on the theory of "the liver stores blood， and blood houses ethereal soul"， this paper proposes that the core pathogenesis of schizophrenia lies in the disharmony of liver blood， resulting in the failure of ethereal soul to reside securely. Accordingly， the fundamental therapeutic principle is proposed as regulating the liver， harmonizing blood， and stabilizing ethereal soul. In clinical practice， for patients with liver blood depletion， treatment should focus on softening the liver and supplementing blood， nourishing yin and stabilizing the ethereal soul， with modifications of Fangji Dihuang Decoction （防己地黄汤）. For liver blood stasis， the therapeutic approach emphasizes soothing the liver， dispelling stasis， activating blood， and stabilizing the ethereal soul， with modified Diankuang Mengxing Decoction （癫狂梦醒汤）. For liver blood transformation into turbidity， treatment aims to regulate the liver， resolve turbidity， purify the blood， and stabilize the ethereal soul， using self-made experienced formula Huazhuo Xingxue Decoction （化浊行血汤）. For excessive liver blood heat， the treatment focuses on clearing liver and draining heat， cooling the blood and stabilizing the ethereal soul， with modified Qingying Decoction （清营汤）.
