Malignant brenner tumor: A rare epithelial ovarian malignancy.

Abstract:
A 30 year old G2 PO (0-0-2-0) underwent peritoneal fluid sampling, total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, pelvic lymph node sampling, para-aortic lymph node palpation for malignant Brenner tumor, who presented with abdominal pain and menometrorrhagia. Gross specimen showed the left ovary as a cream-gray mass with diffuse areas of excresences. Microscopically, it appeared as cellular nests made of transitional-like epithelium surrounded by fibrous tissue. The appearance of these cellular nests or the Brenner component, differentiates the malignant Brenner tumor from the transitional cell tumor of the ovary. (Author)
