A 23-year-old Filipino man presented with recurrent appearance of multiple pruritic wheals on his trunk and extremities over an 8-week period. History, physical examination and laboratory work ups done to rule out other forms of urticaria, such as physical, drug-induced, acute or cholinergic urticaria, showed negative results. Medication taken was cetirizine 10 mg tablet every attack with slight relief. No topical medications were applied. Diagnosis given was chronic idiopathic urticaria (CIU). The patient did an internet search and found articles on levamisole for CIU. He would like to know if it would be helpful to add this drug to his current treatment regimen.
