Abstract:
The core pathogenesis of Morvan syndrome (MoS) lies in five zang (脏) organs depletion and internal wind stirring, with the involvement of phlegm, heat, and stasis. Root deficiency leads to wind stirring, which further generates phlegm, transforms into heat, and causes stasis. The disease is divided into three stages for treatment. In the acute stage, branch excess predominates with intermingled wind, phlegm, heat, and stasis, for which treatment should focus on extinguishing wind, resolving phlegm, clearing heat, and removing stasis. In the remission stage, both root deficiency and branch excess are present, and treatment should address both the root cause and the manifestations simultaneously. In the recovery stage, root deficiency predominates, and treatment should focus on reinforcing healthy qi.
