Abstract:
Iodine-131 (131I) is one of the most widely employed radionuclides in nuclear medicine practice in China, with well-established efficacy in the targeted treatment of conditions such as hyperthyroidism and differentiated thyroid carcinoma. However, due to its high volatility,131I presents a potential risk of internal exposure to occupational personnel. Over the past decade, the rapid expansion of clinical nuclear medicine services in China, accompanied by a corresponding increase in thr number of practitioners, has made the accurate and timely monitoring of occupational internal exposure to 131I a particularly salient and challenging issue within the field of radiation protection. This article provides a review of methods for estimating internal thyroid doses in the context of 131I therapy,drawing on both domestic and summarizes the advantages and limitations of current techniques while identifying potential avenues for future development. The objertives is to offer targeted for the selection of appropiate monitoring strategies in the surveillance of internal exposure among occupationally exposed cohorts.
