Abstract:
Alzheimer′s disease(AD) is a neurodegenerative disorder defined by core pathological hallmarks, including the deposition of amyloid-beta protein(Aβ) and the hyperphosphorylation of Tau protein. Given the challenges of an aging global population, it is critically important to explore novel therapeutic strategies for AD. Emerging evidence suggests that plasma exchange(PE) with human serum albumin(HSA) replacement may slow disease progression through multiple mechanisms,such as modulating Aβ metabolism and suppressing neuroinflammation. This review summarizes recent advances in clinical research on HSA for AD therapy, explores its potential mechanisms of action, and discusses the current challenges, with the aim of providing new perspectives for the treatment of AD.
