Abstract:
In highland environments, hypoxic conditions are the most prominent ecological feature, and such conditions have been shown to adversely affect human health. In recent years, more and more studies have begun to focus on how hypoxemia induced by plateau exposure affects the aging process of the brain through the microbiota-gut-brain axis. The aim of this paper is to synthesize recent research advances and to explore the complex mechanisms of action of the microbiota-gutbrain axis in hypoxic environments and how brain aging may be slowed or prevented by regulating this axis.
