Abstract:
With the advancement of regenerative medicine, peripheral blood stem cells (PBSC) and platelet-rich plasma (PRP), as representatives of cell-based therapies and growth factor-based therapies, respectively, have demonstrated significant application potential in tissue engineering and clinical repair. PBSCs possess multilineage differentiation potential, robust paracrine function, and homing capacity, while PRP contains a variety of growth factors that can induce cell proliferation and differentiation, promote extracellular matrix formation, and inhibit apoptosis. The combination of the two has shown notable synergistic effects in the repair of various tissues, including bone, cartilage, tendon, skin, and nerve. This synergy primarily drives tissue regeneration through the following mechanisms: modulation of local inflammatory responses, promotion of cell migration and differentiation, and enhancement of extracellular matrix remodeling. However, this combined therapy currently faces challenges such as a lack of standardized collection and preparation protocols, insufficient investigation into the underlying molecular mechanisms, a paucity of high-quality clinical evidence, as well as regulatory and cost-control issues. Future efforts should focus on strengthening mechanistic research and clinical trials, advancing the standardization of preparation processes, and promoting individualized treatment strategies to facilitate its translation into routine clinical practice.
