Abstract:
A revision anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction has inferior clinical outcomes to that of a primary anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, and there are many unknowns. Although many factors affect the outcome after revision anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, preparing the previous bone tunnel and selecting an appropriate graft are very important. On the other hand, there are difficulties in selecting a graft during a revision anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction because of the previous bone tunnel widening produced during a primary anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction and harvesting of the graft. It is unclear if a specific graft shows superior results in revision anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. Therefore, before selecting a graft, the surgeon must comprehensively consider the patient’s factors, the cause of graft failure, the condition of the previous bone tunnel, and the type of previous graft.
