Abstract:
Fetal hydrometrocolpos is caused by the accumulation of secretions due to lower genital tract obstruction. It often occurs in the late pregnancy, with an incidence of 1/16 000. In this case, the pregnant woman was 30 years old, primigravida,at 38 +3 weeks of pregnancy. Prenatal ultrasound in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University indicated a cystic structure in the center of the fetal pelvic and abdominal cavity. The lower edge reached the bottom of the pelvic cavity, and a uterine-like echo was seen at the upper edge-suggesting possible hydrometrocolpos. After birth, the newborn underwent longitudinal incision and drainage of the hymen. This article focuses on the prenatal ultrasound manifestations and differential diagnosis of fetal hydrometrocolpos to improve the understanding of this disease.
