Abstract:
Objective:To investigate the efficacy and safety of eribulin combined with capecitabine in the treatment of breast cancer with liver metastasis. Methods:A prospective randomized controlled study was conducted. Sixty-nine breast cancer patients with liver metastasis who were treated in Shanxi Province Cancer Hospital from November 2023 to November 2024 were selected as the subjects. They were randomly divided into the observation group (39 cases) and the control group (30 cases) by stratified block randomization method. The observation group received treatment with eribulin and capecitabine, while the control group received treatment with albumin paclitaxel and capecitabine. The clinical efficacy, the levels of plasma endotoxin, alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) before and after treatment, and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results:All patients were female. There was no statistically significant difference in age and the proportions of patients with single regional metastasis and multi organ metastasis between the two groups of patients (all P > 0.05). In the observation group, 24 cases (61.5%) showed significant improvement, 13 cases (33.3%) showed improvement, and 2 cases (5.1%) showed no improvement, with a total effective rate of 94.9% (37/39); in the control group, 13 cases (43.3%) showed significant improvement, 8 cases (26.7%) showed improvement, and 9 cases (30.0%) showed no improvement, with a total effective rate of 70.0% (21/30); there was a statistically significant difference in the total effective rate between the two groups ( χ2 = 6.67, P = 0.010). There was no statistically significant difference in plasma endotoxin, ALT and AST levels between the two groups of patients before treatment (all P > 0.05). After treatment, the levels in both groups were lower than those before treatment, and the levels in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (all P < 0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group was lower than that in the control group [7.7% (3/39) vs. 23.3% (7/30)], and the difference was statistically significant ( χ2 = 3.45, P < 0.05). Conclusions:The combination of eribulin and capecitabine is effective and safe in the treatment of breast cancer with liver metastasis.
