Abstract:
MicroRNAs(miRNAs)are a class of endogenous non-coding RNAs of approximately 22 nt,which lead to the degradation of target messenger RNA(mRNA)or inhibition of mRNA translation through complementary binding to the 3'untranslated region(3'UTR)in mRNA sequences, thereby regulating numerous physiological and pathological processes.Evi-dence increasingly suggests that miRNAs play important regulatory roles in the growth and development of schistosomes, and their interactions with hosts. This review highlights research advances in the regulation of schistosome growth and development by miRNAs from different sources, thus providing new ideas regarding schistosome biology and schistosomiasis control.
