Abstract:
A 72-year-old man received oral tacrolimus 2 mg twice daily and methylprednisolone 8 mg once daily for atypical membranous nephropathy.About six months later, the patient presented with anepithymia, dry mouth, and asthenia.Laboratory testing showed a fasting blood-glucose level of 23.2mmol/L and a glycosylated hemoglobin level of 13.1%.The diagnose was considered more likely to be druginduced secondary diabetes mellitus.Tacrolimus was stopped and changed to oral mycophenolate mofetil 500 mg every 12 hours. And methylprednisolone was continued according to the original dosage and telmisartan and insulin were given at the same time.Four days later, his glucose level became stable relatively.
