Abstract:
[Objective]By collating and analyzing the rare medical book Huoren Xintong from the Ming Dynasty,to introduce the content and value of this book.[Methods]Using philological methods,this paper sorts out the works of WU Qiu,a Zhejiang doctor in the middle of the Ming Dynasty,and collates and analyzes his medical concepts and the prescriptions contained in the book from four aspects,including the author and his works,the book's basic contents and composition,the cited literatures and the academic characteristics.[Results]WU Qiu,a Ming Dynasty doctor,wrote a comprehensive medical book,Huoren Xintong in four volumes,which is not contained in the Zhongguo Zhongyi Guji Zongmu and is no longer available in China.The book uses a special format of "Huotao",which discusses internal,external,gynecological and pediatric diseases in 101 subjects,records approximately 270 prescriptions,and dosage forms are comprehensive.The book uses the early model of syndrome differentiation with eight principles,provide flexible prescriptions for different illnesses,make good use of concoctions.It was the medical text that used the name "Jinzhi" in the early stage of medical history.The author created many famous prescriptions,including the "Dazao Pill".[Conclusion]With its rich references and unique style,its distinctive academic features as well as its flexible and practical prescriptions,Huoren Xintong is a comprehensive medical book of high theoretical and clinical value,which is worthy of further in-depth study.
